On May 21, 2014, Susa Creek School hosted the 3rd gathering for the Pen Pal Project this year. Students from Summitview School joined their pen pals for a day long event. Activities included traditional dance (jingle dress, fancy dance and grass dance), traditional games, drumming, making bannock on a stick over the fire, a round dance and a traditional lunch of elk stew.
A big thank you to the James Gang Drummers who lead the round dance; to Jennifer Kelley who led the traditional dance station; to Vicky Wanyandie who helped the children make bannock, to Robina Butler who led traditional games and Robert Wanyandie who taught the children about drumming and to the volunteers who helped out that day. Another big thank you to the Grande Cache Positive Youth Development Team (PYTD) and the Beta Mu Sorority for their donations. Finally a warm thank you to Joanne D'Lugos and Renee Fehr for all of their help organizing this program throughout the school year; without you this wouldn't have been possible!
