This was our full day gathering. We had a lot of community support for this event. The day began meeting at Hideaway Camp. The morning was spent in a variety of activities including making traditional beaded jewelry (earrings with Curtis and chokers with Ally McDonald - Susa Creek Staff), sewing, making moose calls and dreamcatchers. We then had a round dance at lunch time with the James Gang Drummers (a local group from Susa Creek). One of the parents surprised us with yummy cupcakes for desert at lunch as well. The afternoon was spent in another flurry of activities including traditional dancing, a nature/medicine walk with Curtis Hallock (a local celebrity after having been on Mantracker), and a nature scavenger hunt. We had support from the Metis Local, Aseniwuche Winewak Nation (AWN), Hinton Friendship Centre, Super A (local grocery store), Summitview staff, Susa Creek staff, community members and parent volunteers from both communities. It was an amazing day where the true essence of building bridges was felt in many ways.
